I've been working on this new painting for the better part of the summer. It's still not finished but I'm feeling food about it so I wanted to share it in it's unfinished state. It's about 4.5 ft by 1.5 ft. It has lots of layers in it. The whole canvas was very brushy and busy like the figures but then I sketched out the figures over the background and block out the surrounding areas to have more focus on the figures. I was initially inspired by the spiral arms of galaxies and how they seem to be spiraling but they're so vast and slow. This painting is about moving with the rate of our universe and finding comfort in the fact that despite who we are or what our outer "sihlouettes" look like, we are all made from the same background. Quite literally, everything is made from the same elements just different arrangements and combinations. Not just people, everything we see and don't see. Is this what you thought when you first saw this painting? Probably not, it's a little far-fetched. I want you to have your own interpretation of it's meaning and do what you want with the interpretation I provided.
This is the place where I post current works, upcoming shows, inspirations, and general thoughts about art.
