I wanted to do a quick update on what I have been doing this summer! It's quickly coming to a close and I will move back to Harrisonburg about a week. I love being at home so I'm not quite ready to go back yet. I have been lucky enough to have some time to experiment with some new media. I've been working on some stop-motion short videos. They have been very challenging to figure out how to plan them logistically. So,I hope to master it the more I work on it. The theme of the videos have to do with themes of mortality and our bodies' relationship to nature. Lots of bodies, leaves, bark, and rocks are involved. You will see soon!
I have sold some small paintings at the R.R. Smith Center Shop in Staunton, VA. I have 4 more there if you are interested in buying them! I also sold one of my paintings Rhythm at the Bath County Art Show. I was thrilled! It is the biggest painting I have ever sold. It was one I had done at JMU and then completely reworked it over the summer. The same painting also won an award at the show. It is called the Christine Herter Kendall award and is given to, "an oil painting evoking thought provoking enlightenment and emotional impact. My mom is a watercolor artist and won 4th place in the watercolor section and sold a painting. She was been in the show many years (we used to live in Bath) and this is my second year in the show. It was a very diverse show with over 800 pieces in it. It's fun to see what artists in Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley are up to!
